Paul Paulsen

Paulsen Construction was started in 1919 by Paul Paulsen an immigrant from Norway. In the 1940′s Paul’s Sons, Herman and Byron Paulsen, assumed the leadership of the company. In 1959, Byron started Paulsen Engineering and Manufacturing to manufacture newinventions, primarily a reclining seat for the Volkswagen. In 1974 the name of Paulsen Engineering and Manufacturing was changed to Paulsen Engineering and Constructioin and the company became a general contracting firm operating along side its sister company, Paulsen Construction.

Paulsen Construction and Paulsen Engineering

Early Years of Paulsen ConstructionAs a non-union entity, it allowed the Paulsen family to run a dual operation including a union affiliated company and non-union company, which operated primarily in Central Utah. Ownership of Paulsen Engineering and Construction was held by Byron Paulsen and his son Craig Paulsen until 1986. At that time, the two companies made a complete break and actually competed against each other for a few years. After the death of Byron Paulsen in 1991, Paulsen Construction ceased operations. In 1995 Paulsen Engineering and Construction assumed the name of Paulsen Construction as d.b.a. and has operated under that name since.

Today

The current principals of the firm are Craig Paulsen and John Paulsen. Paulsen Construction is a 4th generation construction company providing full service and attention to detail.
